My first observation of the PlayWrite process came during a production rehearsal. I silently watched as eight homeless youth directed professional actors in the private and personal plays each had written. I was aware of the extreme circumstances these young adults had endured, yet these were not scared, abused runaways…by the end of the two weeks, after watching professional actors perform their plays, these students walked confidently to the stage to take a bow and absorb the feelings felt from seeing an entire audience giving them a standing ovation. The coaches teach these kids how to get out of their heads and move to a different level, the place of creation, the place of possibility. Here they learn to rewrite their stories, they have control over the outcome and they can safely experience a myriad of emotions. Each of the students walks away transformed. I am deeply devoted and will continue to support this group and their work because what they do changes lives. It works…period! -Kimberly Agnew, PlayWrite, Inc. Donor

“That professional actors and writers would selflessly contribute to the development of young minds is a concept all too absent in our current educational climate. I know that my PlayWrite experience was one of the most positive and engaging of my academic career. I have since continued my education and my writing. PlayWrite is full of amazing people, talented minds and compassion to spare, and is deserving of continued financial support by anyone with a desire to help the youth population of Oregon.”
